The Arles region is made up of three distinct elements grouped around the historic Roman town of Arles, whose arcitecture and history has long attratcted visitors from all over the world :

- The Camargue, situated between two branches of the Rhône river is one of the most beautiful natural sites in Europe. Its native animals and vegetation are protected by its status as a National Park ; indeed, thanks to the Camargue, Arles is designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

- The Massif des Alpilles with its vineyards and olive groves which were such an inspiration to Frédéric Mistral

- La Crau : A rocky semi deserted plain which is the natural habitat of an extraordinary collection of birds.
